The Other Side of Mother’s Day

Somewhere, my mother is laughing

Children are ungrateful leeches

Daughters having the ability

To make you believe in old medicine

Right up until your death

For the first time in over 30 Mother’s days, I am in a bad place with my daughter. Serves you right, I hear my mother saying from her grave. Well, from the direction of her ashes I keep on a bookshelf. We were never the epitome of mother daughter bliss.
