Accidently Timely Tattoo

I have been wanting a Blue Line flag tattoo for a couple years now. I am retired law enforcement and wanted to show support in the face of all the recent anti-police sentiment.

While I did many things during my career, about half of it, possibly more, was dispatching. While debating on the exact tattoo, I also debated on adding a yellow line, cuz, ya know, dispatchers get very little love. Yellow is the dispatcher color. I literally made the final decision while sitting in the chair. Chad, the wonderful tattoo artist who knows me so well, had already set out an extra cup. He and my husband both laughed. They said they knew I would add the yellow line.

I got my tattoo last Tuesday, the 22nd. That is why the picture still looks a little rough, it is healing.

Here is the “accidentally timely” part. Of course I have been watching the news surrounding Russia and Ukraine. I have heard Putin described as a thug and agree with that. He sent in troops on the 24th.

I did not know until last night, due to only reading news stories all weekend, that Ukraine’s colors are blue and yellow. People aware of Ukraine, not the blue line symbolism, are probably going to assume this tattoo is in support of Ukraine. Even those aware of the blue line may not realize yellow is for dispatch.
